"It's All Greek to Me!" is an engaging 12-week LEMI Jr. course designed to guide students ages 9-12 through the fascinating world of Ancient Greece. This comprehensive unit study seamlessly blends literature, history, language, philosophy, and creative expression to provide a rich, multifaceted learning experience. Students will dive into Greek mythology, explore the lives of famous philosophers, and uncover the roots of Western civilization while developing critical thinking and communication skills. Through reading "Pandora of Athens," learning Greek roots, writing poetry, giving presentations, and participating in debates, students will gain a deep appreciation for Greek culture and its enduring influence. The course also incorporates leadership education principles, equipping parents with valuable mentoring skills. With hands-on activities, thought-provoking discussions, and a culminating showcase event, "It's All Greek to Me!" offers a unique, experiential approach to classical education that will inspire both parents and students alike.
Caryn Davis & Lauren Kneib will be co-teaching this course. Each class will be 1 hour long. Homework will be minimal.
